A bell guides each day with all major group activities announced by it's sound. This schedule is taken from the official website which can be seen here.
5:00 am: Wake up, be mindful. Practice individual meditation.
7:00 am: Offering alms to monks in the sala (main hall), followed by breakfast for the rest of the community.
8:30 am: Group meditation-Vipassana in the main sala.
10:30 am: Offering meal to monks in the sala, followed by main meal for the rest of the community(note: no eating after midday)
1:00 pm: Group meditation-Vipassana in the main sala.
4:00 pm: Community chores-sweeping the grounds, cleaning the sala, monastery areas, laundry.
5:00 pm: Relax time, afternoon tea (no eating)
6:00 pm: Evening Chanting and meditation at main Dhamma Hall in the Sangha area. Lights go out around 8.30 pm.
10:00 pm: Sleeping.
It may seem daunting at first but trust me it isn't. The most difficult thing for most might be the fact that your last solid meal of the day is over by 12:00 noon. Again, even this is something your body gets used to in a couple of days. Offering alms to the monk is the most beautiful experience each day. The freedom that the monastery allows means you can modify this schedule according to your personal preference after a few days. For instance, you may wish to miss a group meditation and instead want to sit by the lake and meditate alone or head up to the meditation cave and practice Vipassana; any such alterations are allowed.
